An Introduction
Angel's Animal Rescue Society is a registered Canadian charity and volunteer-run rescue located in Merritt, British Columbia. Since 2008, we've been rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals across the Thompson Nicola Regional District and beyond — taking in dogs and other animals that nobody else will. With a shelter that houses up to 50 dogs on-site and a network of dedicated foster families, Angel's provides the time, care, and compassion these animals need to heal and find their way to loving forever homes.

Stray Policy
Angel’s Animal Rescue often becomes a safe haven for stray animals which we define as animals that are found in public or private spaces, on public roads and highways, or otherwise off the property that their owner owns or occupies.

Angel’s will hold a stray animal for seven (7) days and, during that time, will provide food, shelter, and love to the animal to ensure its protection and comfort. This period provides time for owners to locate their pets through various methods, including contacting Angel’s Animal Rescue directly.

Normal daily expenses will not be chargeable to an owner on the return of a stray animal including food and shelter during the Hold Period identified above. If there are emergency vet expenses incurred at the reasonable discretion of Angel’s Animal Rescue, an owner will be required to contribute to those expenses prior to their animal being returned. As well, if a stray animal is returned to its owner after the Hold Period expires, a boarding fee of $30.00 (subject to change) per day will be applied commencing on the 8th day that the animal was in Angel’s care.

Where an animal is not tattooed or microchipped, traceable to an owner, proof of ownership satisfactory to Angel’s will be required prior to return of the animal.

Once the Hold Period is expired, the animal will be made available by Angel’s Animal Rescue for adoption at the discretion of Angel’s Animal Rescue. Should the owner request a return of the animal prior to adoption being completed, the owner will be required to pay an adoption fee at that time for the return of the animal to assist in covering expense associated with the animal including possible spay/neuter and vaccines where the animal has been spayed/neutered following the expiration of the Hold Period.

Angel's Animal Rescue Society was named after a three-legged dog who survived a devastating car accident. That heartbreaking moment sparked a rescue that has said "yes" to thousands of animals since 2008.
